Lisa Schmitt was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, where she currently works as a Global Product Manager for Hill’s Pet Nutrition. She first dipped her toe in politics by successfully running for precinct woman and in 2021, she was honored to be elected to the Topeka Public School’s Board of Education. Lisa has found serving her constituents has brought her much joy and she hopes to continue serving in politics in the future in whatever capacity it may be.
As a life long learner, she holds multiple degrees and is currently working towards a second master’s degree in legal studies. She is passionate about people and mental health, embracing these by volunteering both at her church, and for the National Alliance of Metal Illness (NAMI).
She is married to David Schmitt, Jr. and together they are parents of four amazing children as well as grandparents to Jack, who they get to watch a few evenings each week. In their free time they love to live their life through the adventure of food and embrace all that is Kansas through many various outdoor activities.
