Dr. Sherri Brantley

Public Biography

Dr. Sherri Brantley is a lifelong resident of Barton County. Dr. Sherri Brantley’s story is one of deep community roots and a passion for education. She represents the 112th District in the Kansas House of Representatives. A graduate of Great Bend High School and Barton County Community College, she first completed her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education at the University of Central Oklahoma. Her first teaching role was at Martin Luther King Elementary in Oklahoma City. After taking time to raise her family, Dr. Brantley returned to her roots and re-entered the teaching profession in Great Bend in 1999, where she taught for twelve years. She simultaneously pursued advanced credentials, earning an M.S.E. in Elementary Education/ESOL, an M.S. in Building Leadership, and a doctorate (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership for Teacher Learning.

Prior to her legislative service, her career spanned multiple facets of education, including serving as an Assistant Professor at Fort Hays State University and as a Math Specialist for Kansas MTSS and Alignment. She maintains her connection to local education by completing a fall teaching assignment for Great Bend Schools, where she mentors new teachers in their classrooms. Dr. Brantley resides in rural Barton County, where she raised her three children. Today, she is involved in her community, volunteering with 4-H and her church. Her greatest joy is spending time with her family.
