Dwight D. Eisenhower Excellence in Public Service Series

P.O. Box 385

Shawnee Mission, Kansas  66201-0385.

Electronic applications are encouraged.  Please do not include materials other than those requested.  Be sure to include a letter of recommendation.  That letter may be written by the person who nominated you or by any other fellow Republican.  If you are applying electronically, please have your reference letter writer submit a separate written recommendation via postal mail to the address shown above, by the August 9 deadline.

As a part of the application process, you must be available for a personal interview on Saturday, August 14, 2010.  Interviews will be held in the following locations:

            *Dodge City

            *Kansas City

            *Wichita.

Please indicate in your application which interview location you prefer.  You will be notified as to the exact time and location of your interview once all applications are received.  If you are unable to interview on that date, it is your responsibility to arrange an interview prior to August 14th.

To participate, you must make appropriate arrangements with your employer (if applicable) regarding attendance at all Series functions.  Most sessions are scheduled on Saturdays, but some weekdays are included.  Attendance at all six sessions is mandatory.

If you are selected for the program, you will need to provide a high quality digital photograph for marketing purposes.  Do not submit them with your application.

If chosen for the 2011 class, you are responsible to pay a class registration fee of $100 .  You are also responsible for all travel expenses incurred to attend the class sessions.  As an optional class activity, class members are invited to travel to Washington D.C. to attend the annual national meeting of all leadership series organizations.  The Series pays for the cost of your meals and the national meeting registration.  Lodging and transportation are each individual’s responsibility.  Participation in the trip is strongly encouraged.

All information is confidential.  The selection committee reserves the right to choose program participants based upon basic selection criteria.  Preference, however, will be given to those candidates who the selection committee feels will most likely utilize their leadership skills and gained political training in the public arena.  An effort is made to insure that each class represents the diversity of the Kansas community.  Notification of your acceptance status will be provided in November.
